Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh appointed Special Adviser to NDI
President
Cameroonian-born Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh has been made Special Adviser to the
President of the US-based National Democratic Institute (NDI). The announcement
was made in a May 28, 2024 release signed by the NDI President, Dr. Tamara
Cofman Wittes. This appointment adds to his current position as Senior Associate
and Regional director for Central and West Africa at NDI.
Also appointed in a similar position is his colleague, Les Campbel. And according
to the NDI President "Together, Chris and Les share nearly 70 years of
experience at NDI, including lessons accumulated from previous policy shifts,
organizational changes, and other reforms."
In their new role, besides advising President Tamara, they are also expected to
put their "... tremendous wisdom to work for NDI as a whole...". It should be
recalled that Dr. Chris Fomunyoh is also is the founder of The Fomunyoh
Foundation (TFF), a non-profit organization that supports democracy and
humanitarian causes in Cameroon.
The National Democratic Institute is a non-profit American non-governmental
organization whose stated mission is to "support and strengthen democratic
institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and
accountability.
