Lake Chad Basin security concerns

Security officials of the Central African sub Region met in Yaounde March 16 and 17, 2014 to fine-tune mechanisms for the effective take off of a Lake Chad Multi-National Joint Task Force to insure security around the Lake Chad.

The decision to create the Multi- National Joint Task force was made since 1988. During the 14th Summit of Heads of State and Government of Lake Chad Basin Commission in N'Djamena on April 30, 2012, the many security challenges identified favored the decision to rejuvenate the force.
